As an artist I can confirm that when I want to draw average black I always keep in mind generic monkeys. No, I'm not racist, simply monkey ( chimpanzee ), give good base, good starting point. Then when add couple more humanoid features I get decent black gentlemen drawing. Not all black people can be draw in such way, but majority of common gentlemen of color have many monkey facial features.
