The Shire was the reason I got into LoTR as a kid. I wanted the Shire to exist, so I had to read the whole story to make sure it survived. I was pissed off when I read the Scouring of the Shire at the end. but it was the first story I read after The Odyssey that had a truly epic quality to it.

Same. There are plenty of autists that say otherwise and think the movies took some of the books' concepts too literally (E.g. The Eye Of Sauron becoming an actual eye), or added too much slaptick... They're great adaptations, IMO. Even the cut Scouring of the Shire gets a nod during Galadriel's scene with Frodo.

Even with some non-canon choices, it's obvious that LotR movies were a masterpiece in terms of translating the books to the screen. The things that are wrong are minor nitpicks, especially compared to the absolute abomination nigger infested kike SHITFEST that is the Amazon LotR.
And it's sooooo obvious that LotR (the movies done well) are a White alternate history. Everything about them exudes White values, White virtue, White civilization and White pride.
The (non-canonical) speech by Aragorn at the end of of RotK is singularly moving and could easily apply to the real life struggle of White men of the West.
