Definitely, Space Odyssey special effects were amazing. Crazy to argue we didn't have the 'special effects' back then. It's so funny when I get into these discussions because I know so many people directly involved, connected to NASA. I guess what I mean is, interesting. I have yet to broach the subject with even one of these guys (though I know what they would say). I actually have yet to take up a dinner offer with the guy who hired all the shuttle astronauts over the past decades, I know him that well.
