Just look up government crime statistics. This is the case in England as well and not just America. Crime sky rocketed in the 70s. This was of course after a major rupture in society and laws, the social revolution of the 60s.
Looking at the "National crime victimization survey", which samples 240.000 people each year, crime has been going down ever since:

That's what I said, crime sky rocketed in the 70s smart ass. Of course you're only looking at the past 50 years instead of the past centuries because it fits your argument. It's dishonest. Of course crime went down some in the 70s, but compare that post-70s crime rate to pre-70s. Anyone with a sane mind understands that people have gotten more degenerate since earlier times.
Before we discuss crime before the 70's, i'm curious if we can agree that crime continously going down over the last 50 years is a great development and a fantastic trend that should continue?
