Violating age of consent was only considered criminal when the girl was of "chaste character".

Do you genuinely believe that having exceptions for age of consent (especially if age of consent is already so low), is a sign of a more restrained society? Do you think it's ok to fuck a 7 year old if she behaved slutty?

This law is most likely in regards to rape and the death penalty because if you had sex with someone below the age of consent you were given the death penalty. So what likely happened is they lowered the age to 7 from 10 so they wouldn't have to give the death penalty to people. It could of been a politician's family member that was sitting on death row? I don't know. We are talking about early America and a small state like Delaware where they had strange laws. We don't know all the historic details. If you really want to prove your case that people were just as degenerate as they are today, then let's the statistics? How is it that rape, murder, sodomy, and every other perverse crime has sky rocketed in the past 50 years? People have become more degenerate. Influx of immigrants from backwards 3rd world countries. The rise of pornography. Divorce. Sodomy legalized.

Plus, back then they had arranged marriages. People had families at young ages. They didn't kill babies like they do today. If kids got pregnant, they had the baby and were likely then married immediately so they weren't seen as having children out of wedlock. Different times. Different culture. Much different than today where everyone doesn't know right from wrong.

then let's the statistics? How is it that rape, murder, sodomy, and every other perverse crime has sky rocketed in the past 50 years?

Can you prove using statistics that we're more likely to be raped and murdered today than 50 years ago?

Just look up government crime statistics. This is the case in England as well and not just America. Crime sky rocketed in the 70s. This was of course after a major rupture in society and laws, the social revolution of the 60s.
