Garth Ennis wrote Preacher, a really interesting theological comic that provoked deep philosophical questions into the nature of God.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg developed Preacher into a AMC adaptation. It heavily on making fun of Christians and Jesus fucking Hookers.

I have a few of the first Preacher comics, I especially like the one with the guy who had half his face shot off and turned vigilante after a failed suicide attempt. It was taken from the Judas Priest story of the two youths that shot themselves after listening to Stained Class the album and one died and the other survived then the parents tried to sue the band but failed. Anyway great comic and plenty of deep thought and well written story lines. I think I watched one episode of the tv show and didn't think much of it.
