I am recently a bee keeper but studied them for a few years now. Very interesting bugs. In the winter they kick out all the drones who then die. Keepers often try to reduce the amount of drones in a hive but the bees will keep making drones anyway.
we need to do the same, make it so the world is 80% female, we need that higher ratio
I've always been fascinated by them!
Are you a beekeeper? These days you can get a lot of new material on beekeeping and copies of the old classic works for free online. Social insects are interesting. I almost never saw honey bees on my property though all sorts of native species but now that I have some hives those girls are all over the place and very nosy. They are always coming over to see what anyone here is doing.
I am not, crossed my mind once or twice, but my mother visits often, and is deathly allergic to them so I've not pursued it
