This meme presumes that we, as individuals, control history, but the reality is that we are controlled by history. It is only a very few individuals, one in a million, who have the power to make history. Most of us are not Caesars or Alexanders. All we can do it speak the truth, stand up against the lies and injustices, and try to act in our own lives in a way that we know is right and good. History is like a river, and we are fat black women floating downstream in an inflatable boat without paddles.
