The premise of iRobot is the robots decide to enslave humans to keep them from destroying themselves so... maybe, this is just the robots trying to do humanity a favor.
Think about if, statistically, a hit and run against a black person could be calculated to reduce the overall crime/accident rate. Would it make sense to avoid the hit and run? You are trying to protect humanity, after all.
