A lot of effort is put in to make a show of democracy. The results of vote buying, vs election cheating vs propaganda to keep the masses from revolting is not always clear to me. They will attempt to stymie any investigation into election results as part of the propaganda, but tally counting isn't the only or even primary mechanism of keeping power. My impression of the setup for 2022 is Democrats lose some seats, cleaning house in that party. You've already started to see them resign. Republicans gain a majority in at least the house but not one big enough that they should be expected to do anything. They can't do any 50 vote shit in the Senate, because they dont' control the White House. They will cancel whatever Biden efforts are ongoing, whatever hasn't gotten done in that time.
