"Helm.. Reverse course!" "Sir, I think we all need to be vaccinated." "Sulu, are you out of your mind?" "Resistance is futile." "Scotty! Override helm control! Sulu is one of them. ...Stay back, Mr. Sulu. Don't make me investigate your early life."

.....all of this.

As he always talks about, when he was young, the gov marched him and his family off to a internment camp against their will. He says how the gov should have never been allowed to do that.

Now, years later, he supports the same government doing other illegal things.

Borg aren't in TOS

A more appropriate trope to mine would have been the " these alien beings are the source of an ancient earth legend/myth/religion"

Or "Somehow these idiot aliens got ahold of an earth relic and then reshaped their entire existence around that relic being seen as received truth"

The Borg got retconned into Zefram Cochrane's era in "First Contact" because it's modern Star Trek so it has to be completely fucked by time travel.

Here's a great story idea for free for those dipshits at Paramount: The events in "First Contact" led to the USS Botany Bay being assimilated by the Borg, and that leads to the battle of Wolf359 being led on the Borg side by a Locutus who was formerly Khan Noonian Singh. That leads to the eventual loss and assimilation of the entire Federation in this dark alternate version of The Next Generation. Shave Chris Pine's head and I bet he'd play a better Picard than he does Kirk. The final uplift at the end would be when the planet Vulcan is assimilated, and the Borg obtain Vulcan Philosophy, which leads to their becoming a far better version of themselves than they'd previously been.

Yes the borg must technically exist in the TOS time frame due to existing during the TNG time frame, and the events shown in first contact .

Regarding your idea, it's not really that far off from the shatnerverse events in terms of borg, Vulcan, and some mirror universe.

I'm not gonna nerd all over you but its waaay better than discovery or any of the new trek movies.
