The history of produce is actually quite interesting. Corn, watermelons, bananas etx bear little resemblance to their progenitors.
Fun fact, avocados only exist now because of human agriculture. They evolved in a time of megafauna that could actually 'disperse'the giant seed. Work is underway to create a mini avo with a seed that could potentially be eaten by the smaller animals we have today.
