Eye protection actually appears to be a great way to avoid viral infections, it looks like the mucus membranes of the eye are a great spot for viruses to land. Rather than the masks which are supposed to be for protecting others - and doing poorly at it too.
A full face shield is perhaps suboptimal though, as well as looking silly. Just get some sunglasses.
