He was against faggots because thought of it as sickness. He was against anal sex and contraception because it doesn't lead to pregnancy. He had understanding of how human's psych work and was trying to make scientific approach to human's consciousness. Unfortunately now nor psychology nor psychiatry are not something that can be called science. And using psychoactive substances is not a negative characteristic of a person especially if he is gaining benefits out of this practice.
