Regardless of how you want to classify the people of the Old Testament, the old covenant was with them, not with followers of Jesus. Jesus fulfilled the law. Literally said that’s what he was here to do, and then did it.
You can only come to Jesus through the will of God. Jesus also said this repeatedly.
