Its definitely battle proven. At least as battle proven as the M1 garand or any other historic firearm. But firearms improve, Glock makes a hell of a pistol that holds twice the rounds as a 1911. The AR15 and AR10 are also a hell of an improvement over the M1 garand. I'm sure the next iteration of firearms will be even better than todays.

The 1911 is the most ergonomically perfect hand gun ever made allowing for more natural aim accuracy ever. If you can hit something In 8 to 10 rounds then you suck donkey dick at shooting. As far as the AR 15 and AR 10 the AK47 is the choice to make of those two rifles.
Oh definitely, but 8-10 well placed shots is 8-10 dead. 17+ well placed shots is still 9+ more dead than a 1911.
You're not going to drop a person in 1 round of 9mm or smaller. A .40cal maybe .357cal or .38cal will drop a man well with a body shot. A 9mm sill take 2 maybe 3. So your 17 rounds are now 5 dead.

Everybody seems to get hung up on ar15 v ak47 idk it probably is just personal preference.
Ak47 shoot a 7.62x39 or a 7.62x54. Both those rounds are far superior to the 5.56 or .223 round. In all categories. The Ak47 is a piston driven bolt group which will never jam. It is by far the superior weapon. A 5.56 or .223 round will not Pentatrate walls or harden surfaces like an AK round will.

The mechanical function of 1911 style pistols is pretty impressive, I'm not a fan of the grip safety though and the lack of a decocker. They seem pretty accurate and have wonderful sights.
