found the guy who has never worked salary.

You guys are bunch of little bitches. Try digging a ditch for 8 hours in the rain. Maybe you tech guys should go join reddit. They're weak commies, too.

I'd rather do something intellectual. Not work nigger jobs.

You actually WANT to drive 2+ hours to push a button that you could have some do for you over the phone? Have you ever had a job in your life?

[Edit]

You also apparently have no concept of uptime or the cost of a service/server being down for that amount of time. The company might pay 300-400ish to have someone drive out over 2 hours... Or they could just pay for 150 for hands-on-site and have a system that makes 20k per hour back online in minutes not hours. You dont get it.

So you're content with wasting 2 hours of your life driving somewhere to press a power button?

Can I drive my sports car and bill my mileage to the company along with lunch (at the tavern of course)? That's a nice break from cloning virtual machines and resetting email passwords. With these companies they will burn you at every chance they get, 60 hour weeks w/ no OT. You have to burn them back when the opportunity presents itself, when the whole company is dysfunctional you can only swim for so long against the tide. If you are in IT/programming you will have job offers before you can even say 'unemployment.'

If you make every inefficiency your business when you are working with contractors/data-centers that incompetent you will burn out spectacularly.

Clearly haven't worked a god-damned day in IT

He works on salary. You get paid for 40 hours a week, the 41st hour is free, this guy had to spend 4+ hours of free labor to do something stupid that three other people "verified" already.

... when bonuses and raises are based upon merit: pressing a button is a wate of time. You literally have goals that need to be completed. those are 4 total hours likely made back up on Saturday without pay just to stay on target.

Yeah, you have no fucking clue what you are talking about.
