Meh, I wan't to be a one of the "Taxation is theft" crowd. But, civilization does have at least a minimal upkeep that needs to be paid.
The problem is the incentive structure of taxation. The responsible are expected to bear the cost of civilization while the irresponsible get all the protection. Fix this problem and you'll get a lot less bitterness from the people paying into the system.
