Hate to be the pedant but yellow people doesn’t mean East Asians, it just means the Han Chinese. And it doesn’t have anything to do with their skin colour, their civilisation originated in the yellow river basin so “yellow people” is like how we refer to prehistoric Pakistanis as Indus River people.

They have yellow skin, much the way Indians and irish have red skin and Mediterranean have a green hue. You may not see it right off, but put an Italian, a Chinese, and an american Indian / Irish all next to each other and it is really really evident.
