I still remember that. Police dude knew his name, didn't just grease him, and was concerned for Gary, not the pedo. Just from that voice alone and the guy's position I can figure that he was concerned about Gary becoming a murderer, and quite possibly his immortal soul (this being a time of White christian men and all).
