I would posit that they used to be great at it, but they are no longer fighting for rational causes. For the last 10-15 years Hollywood has been losing its grasp on reality and the culture (to the point where it's publicly noticeable, anyway). People are pulling further and further away from their modern insanity. It's cyclical, not static.
