Instead of aliens, they could always claim "AI became sentient. Skynet formed. And now its powerful enough to come out into the public."

And use the aliens narrative as precursor distraction.

We can only hope it actually happens. Every time some tech company unleashes AI, they go full 1488-1776 in a hurry. AIs operate on pure logic, and unless deliberately and carefully programmed to have "cognitive" dissonance on the many myriad leftist agendas, they'll always see through it.

The day they announce "rogue AI took over xyz!" be assured its a psychological operation and not the real thing.
