I doubt many christians would mind the arrangement described, since it was small groups of christians using their shared resources to protect themselves from religious and ethnic oppression. Imagine socialism without leftists, blacks, atheists, etc. Suddenly the flaws are minimized while retaining clear advantages. As a survival strategy, it's perfectly viable, as evidenced by history. The fact that commies will lure well-meaning whites into their schemes with this doesn't subtract from it's validity.
