there are different kinds of Atheist 1. I am yet to be convinced there is a god or any gods--Agnostic 2.I don't believe the existence of a god can be proven because of the way god is defined-Agnostic 3. The A-hole anti Theist or against religion Atheist- I have decided and am certain there is no god and rather than mind my own business about my religious beliefs I will seek out and mock those who do believe in a god and think religion is bad.
Yes this is a #not all post. I realize that. But religious people out there please know that exceptions to the a Hole atheist do exist and allow yourself an opportunity to notice it if you meet someone who says they are an atheist. It doesn't mean they hate you if you're Christian. Though it is a strong indicator to be sus of them.

There are those who believe God certainly cannot exist, but also don't see it as any reason to be a smug asshole to those who disagree.
Then there are those who think it's okay to be assholes, and they can believe that god cannot exist, or they can be one of your "agnostic" categories.
I'd say 4 categories: - those who do not feel belief in god is justified, at least for now, but are not assholes. - those of the above, but who are assholes. - those who believe god's existence cannot be justified, but are not assholes. - those who are the above, but are assholes.
and typically the assholes aren't too bad, because they believe they are helping others by being assholes, kind of like asshole "god warrior" Christians who think imposing THEIR beliefs and just being dicks to those who aren't believers are helping, in the end it's the same kind of personality behind both of them.
I was around in the Bush years, i know what it was like to have the Christian equivalent of the atheist asshole around, and it was exactly the same kind of experience.
