That's not the problem. The issue is they both seemed to think it was done by a white male when it was a chinkette. If he knew that before he posted he could've instead said something like "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" and talk about the global influence of the art created by white men. That way he'd still be able to make his point and not look foolish in the process.
