I think for the last 20 years the progressive faux-leftist have mistranslated his words to make him look like a neo-lib. I hung out with a few monks at Old Freedom Monastery in Rocheport, MO back in 80's. Brutally truthful, short-path-to-enlightenment people, you had to earn compassion from them XD times over. Nothing like the usual Cali/Boulder hippies.
