Those were cool, but this one park near where I grew up had 2 extra fucked up things at it. One was a probably 25 ft slide with what felt like an almost straight drop off, and it was at the top of the park. If you hit it just right (or wrong, depending), you could launch off the hill. The other thing, also at the top of the hill, was a merry go round. The thing about this monster was that it was a push/pull powered one, like those old railway carts powered manually by one or two people. You could also use your arms AND legs to push the bar back and forth, which made it go faster and faster. That fucker would get going so fast, some kid would puke, cry, or worse eventually, and that is when it got good. You may think the kids would fly off, but no. It was pretty easy to stay on due to how you could lock your legs on the bar below the seat. The good part was when some unsuspecting (and perhaps a smidgen dumb) parent would try and stop this thing while it threatened to fly off into space at 20 times the speed of sound. And once, ever so often, the parent would fly down the hill, right towards the creek.
