Jack was perfectly normal. Everything bad or paranormal was in his wife Wendys head. Kubrick even removed or added items into scenes to signify when we're getting Wendys imagination and not reality. Look up 'Wendy Theory" on youtube. Its really interesting

Wendy was a plain-faced stick figure, but not woke and seemed to be tolerable enough.
