For small businesses, wages are closely tied to the market price of the products. I've heard leftists say things like, "if you can't pay a living wage, you shouldn't be in business". Except, the market only wants to pay prices made possible by China. So; prison labor, lack of environmental controls, company towns, below poverty wages, are fine - as long as they aren't here in the US.
