I’ll tell you the moment that turned me off the Marvel movies as happy escapism, or at least, demonstrated to me that they’re catering to the worst aspects of the female fan base. It’s that one little scene in Captain Marvel where she takes that guy’s bike and threatens him for daring to look at her. Unless I’m mistaken, that part was played by a hot actor who was on True Blood, who women were drooling over only a few short years ago. Now we’re supposed to cheer as he gets his ass licked by some 6/10, angry-for-no-reason, charmless Brie Larson. But I think I’m the only person who noticed that. Anyway. Movie theaters suck now. Movies have been going downhill for a while, but I actually really enjoy going to the theater. Not anymore. No new movies, too many restrictions and yes, too expensive. Hollywood, by cancelling all its releases last year, demonstrated to everybody that we don’t need that shit in our lives.
