Yeah. If I remember correctly a lot of cases were connected to past trauma, often in the form of an injury to limb that never felt right again.

But then you think about trans people, who often have past trauma in the form of sexual abuse and eventually want to cut off their dicks.

I've never heard this theory but I'd like for this to be explored more. You're right, they could feel some kind of shame connected to their sexual parts because there were situations where they had no control over them growing up, and this is their weird way of "regaining control" over themselves.
