Interesting side note, structural engineers and fire mitigation specialists had surprising observation after inspecting several fires in 100 year old buildings. Then set up experiment and found that large white oak, say 6"w 12"h, beams maintained loadbearing ability 2-4 times longer in hot fires than steel I-beam of size that would be used instead.
