My 15 year old Asrock ION 330 is getting long in the tooth, like the OG XBOX before it. Can't play HEVC video with more than 720p on it and the H.265 codec is getting more popular each year.

Found a RPi 5 case with built-in IR receiver that also routes the micro HDMI ports into standard size sockets. https://argon40.com/products/argon-one-v3-m-2-nvme-case Even has its own Addon to configure its special features: https://github.com/HungerHa/libreelec_addon_argononecontrol

Decided to go with LibreELEC and transferred my settings over to the new device. So far, pretty painless, seems to work good.

Not bad. I was going to use a new RPi 5 but it was having problems with 4k playback on our 65" tv. It's currently hooked up to a old PC I have that seems to have zero problems with playback.

It's good enough for my 32" FHD LG.

Migration was more painless than I expected. Can recommend.

Edit: Fuck, did I just recommend migration?
