Remember the hurricane report where the "news" reporter was leaning into the wind and almost getting blown away, but then two blokes in shorts and thongs (flip flops for the Americans) just wandered past casually in the background? This is how they get away with blatantly lying without getting (successfully) sued for defamation.... no rational person would take what they are saying as true. This is now known as the Maddow defence.
