Ive been reading the bible, and im pretty sure circumcision has nothing to do with dicks. The bible says you are circumcised with knowledge, so its kinda funny how the jews managed to turn the meaning of circumcision as one of having knowledge of christ to cut off your foreskin
Galations 5:6
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.

Those are written under the NEW COVENANT. After Jesus fulfilled the Old, we now live under the New.
The OLD COVENANT (which was fulfilled by Jesus) was made with Abraham in Genesis 17 -
10 This is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: every male among you shall be circumcised. 11 And you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and you.
It says "flesh of your foreskin" pretty clearly. The problem is understanding the Old vs. New Covenant, which is fully explained in the book of Hebrews. Jesus has completely fulfilled the old. The old covenant has no value in Salvation, its purpose was to reveal our sinful condition in comparison to God's law and lead people to Christ - the only one who could take away sin and was resurrected to life.

Circumcision long predates christ though, and the new testament says that circumcision is irrelevant.
Mostly the conversion of the meaning of the word is interesting, because the bible doesnt seem to make much reference to the practice anyways.
Irrelevant is not quite the word I would use, I believe it was more of a one time thing, not something that was meant to go on.
one of the first books explictly shows some jews circumcising a towns males and then bringing in an army to kill them all while they are recovering.

The old testament was man showing God outwardly his commitment to God. They were told to circumcise to show God they were faithful.
Seeing how we all sin and needed a savior and how by our works we cannot be saved, Jesus died on the cross for us. So, Jesus said rather than circumcising our body we need to do it to our heart. Jesus is about the unseen, our hearts, our faith. That's why jews hate Christians because we don't have to do anything except love Jesus and others, repent and pray and do good things for the kingdom.
