As a long time resident of the region, you have my deepest sympathies. I'll add a special apology for the airport there as well. Not too bad if you fly Southwest and use the east terminal, but the main terminal exudes a 1960s aura of dingy grubbiness that makes me want to shower after visiting it. Glad you made it out alive.

When most of my work was at the Boeing plant it was not so bad. All I had to do was get up to the airport Marriott and back. When my work started taking me to O'Fallon it definitely got riskier getting down to 64. Massive swaths of the city certainly spoke of long bygone days.
