Would not surprise me if these cheap ass chabads (many are not actual US citizens) were illegally sleeping in there so as not to have to pay rent somewhere.

They are specifically israeli-born 'Bochurim', and travel to the States to be hosted (no doubt pulling some kinda immigration scam) as they learn at the Synagogue - so sleeping on site means a whole bunch arent paying rent somewhere.
