To a degree, yes. I was fortunate enough to still have both free will and the sense to challenge authority. I was able to break free of the indoctrination of my childhood and young adult life by learning more and questioning everything. I knew I had broken the indoctrination when the system that had indoctrinated me turned against me. Now we watch each other carefully and constantly, unblinking and unflinching.

Huh, opposite happened to me.
My Father always told me that 'watching the TV' would 'rot your brain', that I should 'think for myself', and often asked, 'If everyone was jumping off a bridge, would you do it too?'
Ironically, I took these messages to heart, and it led to him not speaking to me for quite some time during the Covid Madness.
What were you indoctrinated with?
My indoctrination wasn't simply by pop culture or social trends. I was generally outside the norms of my generation and was not addicted to TV, music, movies or other pop culture. This made it easy to not get caught up in the momentum of my peers. My conditioning was more generational. I was conditioned to not see color, believe in the lies that higher education was the way forward and that we should accept people even if they were clearly not compatible with society.
As a young adult, reality opened my eyes to the double standards all around me. That steepened my sense of skepticism and I began questioning everything that seemed contradictory. This got me labeled as insubordinate but I persisted in my behavior. Now I wear that as a badge of honor. I broke through the conditioning and haven't looked back.
