People really do suck.

Archive: https://archive.today/zEXQ0

From the post:

>Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said on Wednesday that two people have been arrested for looting during evacuations. 'It's always sad when I have to say this, but part of our responsibility is to make sure no one loots or steals from our residents or our community members who are already being impacted,' Luna said. Luna added: 'So if you are thinking about coming into any of these areas to steal from our residents, I'm going to tell you something: You're going to be caught, you're going to be arrested and you're going to be prosecuted.'

The were running out of water at the hydrants last I read. Local government incompetence at its finest.

CA does EVERYTHING on an IOU. Money, benefits, and water allocation. They built houses in literal desert areas like Temecula and Palm Desert, now scramble to provide water for all the karens that moved in there. One place to do it was to depressurize the hydrants, as well as other emergency sprinkler systems. It was actually listed in the budget cuts a few years ago that hydrants would not be inspected annually, and were thus deactivated in most areas to stabilize the water system. Just grab popcorn, enjoy the show, and remember: the show will come back again next year :)

Welcome to California, where a wild fire in the porn valley is a gurantee every single year, yet a shock to everyone who lives there.

Seriously, I once worked in Thousand Oaks, when one of those fires was raging. We were in a small bowl of safety because of all the concrete and businesses, but if you walked outside, the sky was blood red, and ash fell like snow.

And yet, like groundhog day, people cry and wonder why their multi million dollar home burned to the ground after they built it in the literal Santa Ana winds bellows of the west coast. San Diego is getting a slightly more spread out version of this because of all the eucalyptus trees they stupidly planted down there. Every 5-10 years, those fuckers go up like napalm because of all the oil in the trees and leaves.

Yeah, I read about the massive failure that the eucalyptus trees was. Didn't they plant them for lumber but then realized they sort of suck for that and are now invasive as fuck?

Not sure if it was for lumber, only because they're scattered all over in decorative uses. They're along the major highways and freeways, they're used to "hold" soil on hillsides, and at least in the Kearny Mesa and Carmel Mountain areas, they were used heavily as trees for houses, schools, and businesses due to their low water requirements. I can't speak for anything south of what was the Chargers stadium cause I avoided that mexican cartel cesspit like the plague. But anything in the 760 or 858 area codes had those fucking trees all over in the same way LA has palm trees.

Looks like it was at least partially for lumber. Though, the article does explain that they are basically the worst tree you could plant in a fire-prone area.

Welcome to the Red Baron Club!

Originally brought to be used as a source of lumber for rail cross-ties, but they are the wrong species, as the wood does not grow straight grained enough. They are highly invasive, and blight the soil underneath with leaves and seeds that drop. Also, a self pruning tree. At least two people have been killed at the zoo by falling branches. They are planted all around 5 & 805, to the border, and all through the many canyons around el cajon blvd. , university ave. park blvd. and the balboa park areas.

I just watch some dumb fuck reporter, who wanted to see this house on fire from the back yard. He just walked up to the neighbors house, walked in the front door, walked right through their home to the back yard where he found the homeowners with a bucket brigade, taking water from their swimming pool and dumping it on their neighbors fully engulfed home. Oh, did I mention the fire department was there with no water? What a major cluster fuck.

He should say they are going to be shot

Repercussions are a bitch. But you got a lot of invaders for that money.
