Early political theorists thought that America went against the prior assumptions about democracy. Prior democracy was something that was written about in books and talked about in theory. The consensus of why it wouldn't work is because it would break down in to mobs just voting to steal wealth for themselves. When the US didn't immediately turn into an obvious wealth transfer system political theory had to be rethought.
Well, maybe the older thoughts were correct. Yeah, let's just have overt wealth transfer to specific voting blocks. Literally through out 250+ years of standards completely. Democracy now has no shred of ethics.
