As a teenager my high school was mostly Jewish and Catholic. They each had their own observances. Other than some extra days off, no one was forced to do what the others did. I can't imagine the laughter and parents storming the school that kind of crap would have caused back in the 90s.

i was in a mixed public school and my experience was similar. just do what you want/need to do without fucking with others.
to me this forced bs is to establish in the minds of the children and the nation that they are to submit with the overall theme being "you're conquered"
