That's a feature. They don't want you to have any sovereignty of movement: no vehicle for you.
I own vehicles that are over 10 years old, mostly because they still run just fine and I have no reason to replace them. The other reason is because I don't want an EV or a hybrid and the ICE vehicles still available suck.
Don't forget that all new cars are tracked and tagged with motor kill switches in the E.U.
