Here's the thing: tax revenue is based on floor space. As buildings are razed, tax revenues go down. This is also why real estate holding companies want to raze buildings, to reduce their tax liability.

This is the main motivator. I am also sure the owner will get some tax credits to open an EV charging station. What I find the most hilarious is when I come across a charging station and there is a DIESEL GENERATOR next to it.

What if someone filled the diesel tank with water? That would be horrible.

But they only need the generator when the fireflies are on break.....

Average cost to demolish a building is $4-$8 a square foot. Probably safe to say in LA it's on the higher side. That's about half a million dollars to just tear down the building. To replace it with EV charging. What return on investment? This is crooked as fuck.

Covid killed office work. Remote work means less people downtown, which means less overall business, more vacancies, increased vagrancies.

Explosions incoming.

I had to read that 3 times to understand what was "crazy" about that.
