We don't have any (((credit))) cards in our house, we did take out a loan for our house but it was only 10% of the purchase price. We had reasons to do that and none of them were financial.

I just don't understand these people, I learned from my Grandfather that if you don't have the money then don't buy it. Makes sense to me.

Can I just say I detest credit cards? I have exactly ONE credit card that I only use for small things like groceries and there's a plan on it that lets me not pay interest for 6 months if I make a purchase of $200 or more. Mainly used to take the family pet to the vet. Usually comes out to just over $200 and I can make adjustments to the monthly budget easier. Never for anything frivolous, like eating out or buying TV's or anything like that.

My maternal grandmother, on the other hand, literally cannot control herself with the damn things. She's $26k in the hole because she could not control her spending, had at least 10 of the damn things, and would only ever pay the minimum thinking she was paying it off when the interest rates are anywhere from 15%+ on the low end! She'd use the damn things every day, to eat out, to buy clothing she'll wear once then forget, to buy expensive food items we don't need or want, or to buy candy and soda and bakery items. She's filed for bankruptcy multiple times, even way back when my grandpa was alive and my mom was a kid.

Credit is a trap for the foolish and it drags their entire family down with them. About as bad as gambling in my opinion.

One of the saying in my industry is "there is no internet, just someone else's computer"

I think we should start saying " there is no credit, just someone else's money" to hopefully drive the point home.

(Its not going to work, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't try)
