I was just trying to explain this to my older boy about 30 minutes ago as I was driving him home from his tennis lesson and he almost didn't believe me, until I brought up the 19% of their Homo erectus genome.
I forgive the kid for saying stupid shit like "just like us", he is growing up in a country that is 98% White and hasn't had the pleasure of living around niggers.
Explain to him that just because he's able to think abstractly, doesn't mean everyone can. Because he has empathy, doesn't automatically give everyone the same ability. Then he can start noticing.
His Mom took them to Florida a while back and he had a chance to see them in their natural habitat, he knows what's up but breaking the programming isn't so easy. And we pay to send him to a private school, I can't imagine what it must be like in the public schools.
Ugh, I guess that we didn't move far enough out of Prague.
