So, how long until local and state police departments start complaining about the same arms and munition problem? Assuming, they're not complaining already.

Police depts use mostly 9mm and the Army use 556 so most of the ammunition that the article was talking about were heavy weapons loadouts (stingers, 155mm shells etc.). Still, there is a fair chance that Uncle Sam will start forcing ammo manufacturers into changing their lines from .556 to 7.62 which will leave regular American's in the lurch.

Police will be fine but everybody else will be hosed at that point.

I'm not referring to caliber of rounds. I assume military and law enforcement use the same propellant in their respective ammunition. This volume of outflow will eventually impact law enforcement and market dependent personal inventories.

Do you think for a second that (((the powers that be))) would allow the only thing that stands between them and the angry mob to run out of ammo?

This will never happen.

My bitch, that I lost while shooting offshore, would eat up the 7.62 like she was starving..

They dig into those trillion+ 9mm rounds tsa has stockpiled.

Not to mention the Dept. of Education and the Agriculture Dept. and the IRS.
