I can't speak to electric lawn mowers as I have no experience with them. However, I do a massive amount of forestry and wood cutting throughout the spring and summer.

I've used a lot of different brands of saws. This last season I decided to buy an Atlas 80v 18" electric saw from Harbor Freight just for the shits and giggles and to prove how shit electric is in real world work.

I ran it exclusively which required 3 batteries and a quick charger to never be without juice. Other than that, it cuts through sections faster than my gas Stihls and Husqvarnas do in side by side comparisons.

I've left it and also ran it in the rain multiple times with zero issues. The bar has been run over by a mini excavator, still ran fine. It's been tossed in and out of equipment constantly.

At my altitude, saws overheat or vapor lock quickly, electric doesn't have that issue.

Overall, I'm very impressed with the performance. I like how when you let go of the trigger the saw doesn't need to idle, it is instantly quiet.

I like not having to mess with the fuel or smelling like exhaust after hours of cutting anymore.

I still always carry my gas saws just incase but I've ran this Atlas through the ringer and I must say I am pleasantly surprised.

gas or electric?

On my lawn I don't use either. https://pic8.co/sh/wmcb5S.jpeg

I use a scythe for around the chicken coop, much faster and easier than a weedwhacker.

Interesting. I have no experience with electric mowers either but the $500 price tag is preventing me from trying one. My current mower is a 3 year old Walmart Chinese model that only needed a new spark plug in the second year and has ran like a champ since. Paid $199 for it. If it ever stops I'll head my ass back to Walmart for the next one.

Agreed. Not saying banning shit is the way to go either. Just saying I was pleasantly surprised.
