Wish they would stop calling this "milk." It's starchy, almond flavored, sugar water. Milk is a complex substance full of nutrients and enzymes. Almond flavored sugar water is just sugar water.
Imagine telling someone, "we're not breast feeding, we're just feeding it sugar water." People would run them out of town and take their baby. But if you call sugar water, "milk", suddenly it sounds semi-reasonable. Shesh. And these people vote.
It isn't sugar water but it is 4 almonds per cup. Macros are 27 of the 39 calories per cup from fat and 8 from carbs.
If you want sugar water, look at formula.
Yes and no. I looked because of your comment. Apparently there is no-sugar variants which I've never seen. All of the almond "milks" I've looked at actually have sugar (excluding water) as the primary ingredient. These are literally sugar water with almond flavoring. Very little nutrition and almost all water and sugar.
But I do thank you for calling me out. Apparently there is some where are better than sugar water. Care to guess which is more popular and which they starved their kid on? Based on my own experience, the sugar water variations are the defacto products.
I drank almond milk once, it was like drinking a candy bar. All thick and sugary with fake flavors. Gross.
I've had some of the x-milk junk and it is as you describe. But apparently has pointed out not all of them are like this. I'm currently assuming, based on the times I've read labels, that the majority and most common are in fact flavored sugar water, but apparently there is some of higher quality available, without sugar added.
