Democracy was a great idea before they gave the vote to women and people who didn’t own land.

Maybe it would’ve failed either way, but those two were the first shots for sure. Allowing Jews in was another massive one.

The land-opening component would have had it’sa own pitfalls; cooperations would’ve bought up all the land, and consolidated it into an oligarchy…. Either way, the attempt was still a step in the right direction away from monarchy.

What you have today is the direct product of democracy, and it's pretty much the only possible outcome on the long run

Yeah…it all comes down to greed. Whatever direction you go, human greed inevitably fuels the entropy that destroys civilization. Be it a monarchy, democracy, communism, anarchy; the greed of the individual will supersede the collective good.
