Grabbed some snacks at the gas station, white couple in front of me in they're late 20s maybe, and scruffy looking, broke, the woman must have been close to 8mo pregnant. Bags of chips, candy, soda, the only healthy thing was some nuts or trail mix. I wanted to say something but figured it wouldn't help, then she pulls out the food stamp card or WIC or EBT whatever, everything went through they didn't have to pay for the junk.. there were good apples bananas oranges right next to the cash register. There was a section of the healthy trail mix and dehydrated foods they didn't touch. And some somewhat decent pantry basics. By the time I checked out, couldn't see if they had a car or walked off.
